Parish Commission on Ministry

While visiting with Jim Reynolds, I began to remember his parents and their active participation as active members.  Jim’s dad, Earl, was always involved in activities like choir and the architecture of the building.  My memory was his chairmanship of the Parish Commission on Ministry which recruited and guided members who wished to pursue a calling to the ministry.  The members of the commission asked the hard questions as we worked with candidates.  Three people who came to mind were Robin Finch, Judy Laduke and Rae Wake.  Each one had a different goal; Robin became a bi-vocational priest (kept her day job), Judy became a deacon and Rae joined the active priesthood.  Robin served the Caldwell parish and traveled to Placerville every Sundays for several years.  Judy was best known for her religious mission to Africa.  Rae passed away way too early – at the time he served as the parish priest at All Saints in Salt Lake City.  This is three of our members were under the guidance of the Commission.  It was Earl who made sure we were on task.

Jim’s mom, Harriet, had a great needlepoint project.  A story for another time.

Your history buff, John Beckwith
