DID YOU KNOW?
The Bells
I was recently asked about the bells that were used in the early years. There were actually two, both donated. Attached, is a newspaper clipping giving an overview of how they came into existence. They were part of the original chapel. They were used on Sundays and many other occasions. The whole neighborhood welcomed the sound. They were part of the Bench history. I have read somewhere about the story of what happened to their existence and the fact that they disappeared. While preparing to move the chapel, they were set on the ground. They were stolen! Not long ago, several of us explored the existing church to see if there were any clues. It appeared that the architects provided space which never been used.
