Altar Guild

Altar Guilds in the Episcopal Church developed in the late nineteenth century. In the early days of the Church of England, altar care was the task of clerics. Many years later, laymen and eventually women were included in this ministry.

Working hand in hand with Father Joseph, our primary job is to be sure that the items used in our worship services are ready and in place for the service.  This includes the linens, the chalices, the hangings, the flowers, the altar books, the gospel book, the wafers, and the wine. We normally prepare the altars on the Saturday before the services and then cleanse the items after the services.  We have specific guidelines and 2 centuries of tradition that we follow.  Actually, it’s a lot of fun and I encourage anyone interested to ask an Altar Guild member about it.

Fr. Joseph’s contact:  For more urgent situations outside of office hours, please call or text his cell at 208-917-2270. If calling, please leave a message with your name, a call-back number, and a detailed message and he will get back to you as soon as he can. You can also text this number. Emails are generally answered when he is in the office.

Our Sunday bulletin can be found here.  If you can’t be here in person, we stream our 9 A.M. service on YouTube and Facebook.
