The All Saints Mission Endowment

Decades ago, a generous donor left a very substantial sum of money to All Saints; this gift eventually became known as the All Saints Mission Endowment. The heart of the Mission Endowment was meeting local, national, and international needs, in addition to small grants for education and capital projects. Because of a generous gift from Mark Wyatt, All Saints was able to establish separate endowments for education and capital projects, returning the Mission Endowment to supporting those in need.

Each quarter, we get a disbursement from the All Saints Mission Endowment that we have deposited with the Idaho Episcopal Foundation.

Our vestry decided to dedicate each quarterly disbursement as follows:

•       20% to Episcopal Relief and Development to support its work nationally and internationally for disaster relief and economic development from the ground up

•       20% to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund to support smaller requests locally for rent support and gift cards for gas, clothing and food

•       20% to the Agency for New Americans, our local partner of Episcopal Migration Ministries, so we can welcome refugees and immigrants (Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe especially has asked Episcopalians to support Episcopal Migration Ministries)

•       20% to the Marie Blanchard Friendship Clinic to support its work providing healthcare to locally uninsured, underinsured, and underserved population.

•  The remaining 20% would go toward a social justice / creation care ministry at All Saints:

•       One quarter, the remainder would go toward the Community Garden (current disbursement went here)

•       Next quarter, the remainder would go toward Creation Care

•       Next quarter, the remainder would go toward our ministries at Boise Pride

•       Next quarter, the remainder would go toward Community/Friendship Meal

All Saints also has some endowment funds set up for other causes:

•       All Saints Legacy Endowment, to support general needs of All Saints at the discretion of the Vestry

•       Mark Wyatt Capital Project Endowment, to support building needs of the church and rectory

•       Spiritual Formation Endowment, to support education

•       Altar Guild Endowment, to support altar guild needs

•       Paradise Point Scholarship Endowment, to support scholarships to our diocesan camp, Paradise Point in McCall, Idaho (our blessing bowl money is set aside for scholarships, too)

•       Youth Endowment, to support youth ministries

•       Memorial Garden Endowment, to support the upkeep of the Memorial Garden at All Saints

Why do we have so many funds set aside? Because we want to utilize those funds sensibly over the long-term. You can always donate to any of the funds above, or designate one of these funds in your estate plans. The All Saints Legacy Endowment, for example, is a “catch-all” endowment for any of our church’s needs, so it’s a great choice.

Of course, pledging is always essential. These endowment funds enhance our mission, not replace it. Our everyday gifts of wisdom, wealth, and work, week after week, is what makes All Saints thrive and do many great things!
