MINISTRY MEMOS:
Gifts in Kind: If you supported our church in 2025 through non-cash donations and would like a letter supporting those donations for tax purposes, please deliver a list of your donations to the church office no later than Monday, January 26th. Please retain the actual receipts for your tax records. The IRS requires written acknowledgement for any single non-cash donation valued at $250 or more donated to a 501(c)(3) organization.
Altar Flowers: Our weekly Altar Flowers add so much to our services and are a great way to celebrate anniversaries/birthdays and to honor people and occasions meaningful to you. To sign up please see the signup board in the narthex or go online at the All Saints website under Worship and Community: https://allsaintsboise.org/worship-and-community/sign-ups/. Thank you very much, your Altar Guild.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS:
Crafting Time: Each Thursday, beginning on February 5th, we will have a group meeting at All Saints to do some crafts! If you love to create or have always wanted to learn how those fun products are fashioned, swing by at 9:30 A.M.
9 AM Classes: On February 1st, 8th, and 15th between services at 9 am in the parish hall join us to make Anglican Prayer Beads (Anglican Rosary). Find out about their origin history, symbolism of each bead, how to use them, and some prayers. Supplies for making your own rosary and a few pre-made ones will be available. Donations would be welcomed, but are not mandatory. Contact Penny Sites for information.
BOISE BENCH & BEYOND:
Scouting America: On Tuesday, January 27th, Scouting America Family Troop 123 is having a Family Information Night in the All Saints parish hall. We are inviting families of 11- 18 year olds (boys and girls) to learn all about Troop 123, our program year, calendar of events, and how Scouting can help your family. Fun, games, and a dessert will be offered.
DID YOU KNOW?
Social Justice Committee: We meet Sunday after Free Community Meal to go over the past month in terms of number of people volunteering, comments on food, etc. We then discuss what will be served for the next month. Rita puts together the clipboards with groceries needed and in amounts. The following week Mary Ellen and Pat solicit donations before and after services. Donors bring the food to the church kitchen before the meal needs to be prepared.
On the Monday before the Community Meal, Julie Walker and others meet the food truck along with the consumers, and the food is sorted and distributed.
On Friday, cooks meet in the kitchen around 3:00 and begin go assemble and cook the meal. As cooking vessels are available after cooking, the cooking vessels are washed in the commercial dish sterilizer. Pat Webb puts out the silverware, napkins, and salt and pepper shakers. She also makes coffee and lemonade and puts out the “to go” boxes. At around 4:45, servers show up, wash hands, and put on food service gloves. Their job is to greet the diners as they go through the lines and serve the meals. At around 6:00, the used dishes are gathered up and washed in the sterilizer; they are then dried and put away.
What I find fulfilling are the stories of the people who are eating with us and the difference it makes in their budgets. I have been poor and it is no fun and we try to help with alleviating that. What I say to folks who want to join in is to just show up in the kitchen around 3:30 on the first Friday of the month or in the case of the food truck, show up outside at about 6:00 and introduce yourself! We love having lots of hands to help. MaryEllen Gallagher, Rita Hess, Pat Webb, and Julie Walker
