February 9, 2023 Snapshot

On-line Giving:  We have switched from Vanco to Tithely for our on-line giving.  As of March 15th, Vanco payments will no longer go through. Here is the link to sign up on Tithely: https://get.tithe.ly/.  Thank you very much for your generosity!  If you need any help deleting your Vanco account and/or setting up your Tithely account, please come on in Tuesday-Friday, 9-12.

Mailboxes:  Please check the mailboxes outside of the office for any correspondence.  Throw out anything that you don’t need.

Green Team:  The mowing schedule is set up for spring through fall and can be located here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4AAEAC2EA5FC1-green.  A reminder that if you want our resident mower, Rex Sayer, to mow, please note it on the sign up, write a check made out to him for $90.00, and the office will mail it to him.

Social Justice:  During the month of February, the Social Justice committee will be collecting medium weight or light weight socks in men’s and women’s sizes.  We have been in contact with the foot clinic at Corpus Christi house and this is what they need.  They have plenty of heavy weight socks, but almost none for the coming seasons.  There will be a basket in the Narthex to receive them.  At the end of February they will be donated to the foot clinic.  If you have any questions, call or text Mary Ellen Gallagher.

Ladies Who Lunch:  Join us on February 16th at 1:00 P.M.  You’ll find us at Applebee’s, 2810 W Elder St, Boise chatting and enjoying some fine food.

Parish Life Committee:  We will have a short meeting in parish hall on Feb 19 during coffee hour to make sure all ducks are in a row for our Shrove Tues/Mardi Gras function on Tues Feb 21.  If interested in helping decorate, set-up, or cook there are two shifts so you won’t be in kitchen the whole time, and clean up please attend.  Chat with Anita Wallinger if you have questions.

Shrove Tuesday:  Pancakes! Pancakes! PANCAKES! Time for the English tradition of having pancakes the night before Ash Wednesday to get our hearts and bodies ready for the fast. We’ll start celebrating at 5 P.M. Men of the parish who want to help with serving should get in touch with Dean Hagerman.

Ash Wednesday:  The Season of Lent begins on February 22nd.  We will have imposition of ashes and Eucharist at noon and 6:00 P.M. in the chapel.

An Interfaith Gathering for Reflections on Love:  Come share in an hour of songs, words, sacred texts, and simple rituals from throughout our interfaith community. Light refreshments following.  February 23rd at 7:00 P.M. – 10464 Garverdale Ct, Boise, ID.

Parish Lenten Book Read:  Lent is coming up soon! For a shared spiritual practice, let’s read Joan Chittister’s The Monastic Heart: 50 Simple Practices for a Contemplative and Fulfilling Life.  Each chapter is delightfully straightforward and short – five or so pages! – and will give us all something to chew upon for the season of Lent.  We’ll discuss it on Wednesday evenings (starting on March 1st) at 6:00 P.M. for anyone who is interested.  Please order your preference of an e-book or paperback.

St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry:  The Food Pantry is in need of non-perishable items such as peanut butter, tuna, rice, and cereal.

Fr. Joseph’s Emergency Message Phone:  If you are in need of pastoral care, please leave a message on Fr. Joseph’s emergency message phone at 208-917-2270.  Include your name, a call-back number, and a detailed message and he will get to you as soon as he can.  You may also text a message to this phone!
